Centuries old traditional Thrummed Mittens from Newfoundland and Labrador by MaDonna Marie

Thrummed Mittens originated in Newfoundland and Labrador hundreds of years ago and were a favorite among fishermen.  Twisted pieces of pure sheep's wool are knitted into the mitten to create a fleecy, warm lining.  With wear, the lining felts itself to form an insulating layer.  When these mittens get wet, they are warmer to the hands.  The natural lanolin in the raw sheep's wool acts as a moisturizer for dry, chapped hands.
